Remember the Winter of 2014?  Get Roof Smart this Winter
Get Your Gutter Clearance and Roof Inspections done BEFORE any bad weather arrives
We all hope that whatever is in store for us in 2015, it won’t be a repeat performance of the extreme weather we endured in the early months of 2014.
12 major storms hit the UK between December 2013 and February 2014, the stormiest period the UK has experienced for more than 20 years.  Throughout this period, the phones at TM Roofing were ringing off the hook.  Our staff worked tirelessly to respond to all enquiries, most of which were the result of storm damage to roofs or chimneys.  We have calculated that we received the same amount of enquiries between January to March 2014 as we had in the previous 10 months!
Hampshire and Surrey were hit pretty hard.  Homes and businesses suffered flooding as well as tree damage and structural building damage.  Many had water pouring in where their roofs had disappeared, from a single ridge tile lost to thousands of tiles missing.  Chimney stacks and walls that had never been a problem before, were now leaking like a dripping tap due to the unprecedented amount of continuous rain that fell.
What a start to the year!  We were mopping up the damage for another six months and what we achieved during this time was a result of TM Roofing’s hard working employees; from our brilliant support team in the office, to the guys on the roofs who worked in extremely challenging conditions, all extending their working day and working most weekends too.  It took until the middle of June before the phones noticeably slowed down and the enquiries changed from “can you help” to “I’m thinking of doing …”
So let’s get smart this winter – get your gutters and downspouts clear of leaves and debris to ensure your drain outlets don’t dam up and overflow as this can result in a loosening of the gutters as well as the pooling water causing wood to rot and sheet-metal ones to rust.
Roof inspections will highlight any preventative maintenance that is required on the roof, chimney stacks or fascias.
